Hello, how are you doing? May I help you with your journey today?
I'm wondering what you are looking for nowadays. Are you interested in learning more about how to practice English? I'm here to guide you through the process of improving your capabilities.
First of all, you need to define your main reason for learning a Second Language. I know that people say you have to learn a Second language because it's mandatory. Yet, why is that important in your case? Are you planning to live abroad, study abroad, a vacation, or are you expecting to get promoted? How important is English for you? Do you enjoy learning for the sake of learning?
It becomes easier to define your pathway when you decide where you want to be in a couple of years. So, if you tell me that you plan to get promoted, then we'll adjust your abilities into a way of getting there. But, if you say that you like learning and don't see a clear usage of the language, then we'll apply some strategies. The best approach will depend on what you expect from learning. Do you expect to get better grades, pass an exam, and be recognized for your skills? Are you willing to take the time to study for real? How long do you believe you will have to keep studying to start seeing results? Do you understand how long-term projects take place? Are you ready for that? For the long run?
Most people aren't mentally prepared to learn long term. They don't think about the process of learning. They hope to learn but don't know what to do to take control of their learning. They don't plan how to study day by day and how to keep track of their studies. They don't write down their progress. They don't understand where is point A, and the process of getting to point B.
You might be thinking that it's your teacher's role to tell you that, am I right? I'm sorry to say that it isn't. Your teacher will guide you along the way, but you are responsible for your own development.
You have to have an organized working book and/or notebook. You have to write down your mistakes and search for answers. You have to be proactive and talk to colleagues about your findings. You have to show your teacher how enthusiastic you are about your small improvements. You have to see how every step is taking you closer to your final goal. You will feel more motivated to learn when you learn to be more autonomous. Are you ready to get control of your learning?
You shouldn't expect to get all the answers from your teacher. And, that's because your teacher won't be by your side when you apply for an exam or travel abroad. You must be able to have a difficult conversation without any help from others. You will make mistakes along the way. Yet, we need to get used to that as well because that's part of reality.
Over time, you will be more and more prepared and comfortable to face reality as it is. At some points in your journey, you will need to overcome the fear of failure. Push it forward. That isn't always going to be easy and fun.
Finally, when you understand that your comfort zone needs to expand to make you bigger, then you'll get to point B.
